Anne Durot has spent the last 10 years working in the Waukegan community, primarily serving low income and immigrant families through her various program leadership roles at Beacon Place, NFP.
Through her work she has experienced first hand the importance of technology in the lives of students and their parents, along with the gaps that too many families face with a lack of a device, the skills to use it effectively, and robust internet to help them live in the twenty- first century. Seeing this need firsthand, Anne was instrumental in creating the Waukegan Community Broadband Taskforce and designed and oversaw the creation and development of the role of the community Digital Navigator.
Anne began her career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse in Chicago, and continued her accounting work at a variety of institutions, including Coopers and Lybrand and the Bank of Boston. During her children’s academic years, Anne worked as a volunteer in the International Dyslexia Association and the Learning Disabilities Association and volunteered in a variety of school associations.
Anne was born and raised in Northern Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her BBA. Anne and her husband, Mike, have had the chance to live in a variety of US cities as well as a 2 year stay outside of London, England. For the past 20 years they have lived in Lake Forest, Illinois.
